Tuesday morning, we woke up to a beautiful blanket of snow over everything.

Since I work from home, and don’t have to drive if I don’t want to anymore, I find I enjoy the snow much more than I used to.
Dave and I shoveled off the driveway (it wasn’t enough to haul out the snowblower), and I got the feeders filled up for my feathered friends.
I hadn’t filled them since before the weekend (as I wasn’t around), so it took a little while for them to show up…

But show up they did.

I only fill the peanut ring once a day, because between the jays and the squirrels, it’s empty again in about an hour.

After filling, we can have anywhere between 5 and 15 jays in the yard.

There usually at least two squirrels, but sometimes more.
The jays, of course, prefer the peanuts, but the squirrels are also happy with the sunflower seeds that hang in the pussywillows.

And just think… it’s only a few tiny toes holding him there…

And I’ve noticed that once the jays show up…

The sparrows aren’t far behind.

The come in ones and twos…

And before you know it…

There’s a party at the feeder.
And remember what I said about jays stashing peanuts…

Well I can’t be sure…

But this guy appeared to be stashing them on the peak of my neighbours house!
Of course, with so much action going on in the yard, the birds and squirrels weren’t the only ones enjoying a little sun and snow…

Lemmy is only too happy to frolic in the white stuff…

Or have a drink from the drain pipe…

Or try to get a birdseye view for himself…

Here’s hoping the snow melts off soon; it’s early December after all.
The snow makes for lovely photos, however…your’s are delightful.

Wow, that looks like a lot of snow! Fun pictures, too. It’s raining again here today, but we still get birds at our feeder. We have Steller’s Jays here, and they like peanuts, too; so do the squirrels. There used to be one here that would take peanuts out of my fingers, but he seems to have disappeared, hopefully not run over on the road out back!

You’ve got some lucky critters! They’ve got a regular feast going on. The Mister took it upon himself this year to fill our old trash can up with dry dog food each night and put it out in the woods for the foxes. We’ve noticed them out and about during the day so they must be hungry. I was always the one worried about the wild critters when it’s cold but this year I didn’t even mention it now that my outdoor kitties have all crossed the bridge.

Such gorgeous birds and Lemmy is quite the busy little guy. I don’t know many cats who like snow much. He doesn’t seem to be one of them! π I tried to comment yesterday but for some reason I couldn’t access the comment button. Oh well, here I am today! Ha!
Blessings and hugs,
Betsy
