All our snow is gone, but when it was thick on the ground, we had some of my favourite visitors.

These little guys are Juncos. They a small type of sparrow, and some people call the snowbirds.

We don’t tend to see them unless there’s snow on the ground.

They are pretty little birds, and one of my favourites. It’s hard to get pictures of them because they are are very flighty.
They eat of the ground (flower seeds etc.) and that means they have to be extra vigiliant. The first winter we lived here, Burton brought in two from the catio yard. Since then I ensure there’s no seed heads left in the catio to tempt them.

But they still like to perch on the fence, and flit in and out through the yard.

And Lemmy is just waiting for his chance!
Hopefully they are faster than Lemmy. LOL

Lemmy, you are a rascal!

We only see them prior to a snow. They are ground feeders here also but there is a blogger in Iowa that has them at his feeders.

I miss the juncos–I never see them here. Lemmy is so sweet even if he is on the prowl!

We see these little guys year round here; I guess they like our weather.

They are definitely pretty little birds. I don’t remember seeing them here but I’m not very observant. š Lemmy looks like he just waiting. He reminds me of Sylvester waiting for Tweety Bird in the cartoon. Ha!
Blessings,
Betsy

I think we have those hopping around on the deck. I’ll have to take a closer look now that I know what they are.
