I am very happy to announce that we FINALLY got some rain! It started late yesterday afternoon and went all through the night! It was wonderful to listen to it plink off the awnings!
They say we are supposed to get more tomorrow, and maybe again later in the week. I really hope so!
The other thing that’s making me happy are these!

The Gumball socks are complete! It’s hard not to be happy with socks like these! Just look at all those happy colours!
The yarn is Knit Picks Stroll in “Gumball”. This is the third pair of socks I’ve made in Stroll (fourth if you count the pair I made with Stroll Tweed), and the second I’ve made for myself (the others were made for Mom and Dave). So far, it seems to wear pretty well. And it’s nice and soft. I’m pretty sure it’s the same base as their Felici.
The pattern is nothing fancy – you don’t need it with yarn like this. It’s just a 2-2 rib on the cuff and a plain foot. Lately, it seems to be my favourite kind of sock. As much as I love my lacy pairs, I seem to reach for the plain ones first when it’s time to actually wear them lately.
And now, I’m faced with a decision… cast on something new… or work on Dad’s sweater. If I want it done by his birthday (December), I really should give it some attention.
These Gumball socks look so cheerful and cozy! I’m glad to hear that you finally got some rain, it must be so refreshing. My logical question is – how do you decide on which pattern to use for your socks? Do you have a go-to style or do you switch it up often?

Ooooh, happy socks! So colorful. You know, I actually hate the rain, the way it pounds on our roof and the roar of the occasional thunder. It makes me hide in fear and not come out for a long time.

What fun socks! Love them. I say cast on a pair of socks for travel knitting and work on your Dad’s sweater at home. Glad you got the rain. We are supposed to get some today. Fingers crossed.

Woo hoo! I need to find a reason to do another Knit Picks order so I can get some of that. I can’t believe I just had a terrible time ordering sock yarn from them and completely forgot about Stroll.

The socks look great.
How about a compromise — 20 (or you pick a number) rows on the sweater and then cast on some socks. Everybody needs socks on their needles.

Yes, the rain, the rain!
And the temps dropped, but heck, that’s okay for a few days.

Those are such beautiful, happy socks! I would be inclined to knit on the sweater just to get it done and off my mental list.

Youβre tempting me to purchase some yarn in that colorway. I love how they turned out! Itβs been raining every afternoon for over a week, so itβs a bit chilly. Iβve been wearing my wool socks around the apartment.

What a beautiful pair of socks!!! I’m glad you had some rain–perhaps it will help put out the forest fires! I would cast on another pair of socks….

Those socks are so hApPy! Love them. I’ve been having fun getting my projects ready to take along for vacation. I always think I’ll get a lot more done than I can possibly get done. Yarn for three pair of socks, wrist warmers for my DIL for Christmas and a fingering weight shawl for the wedding in London in September. No way will I get all of that done in four weeks! Who am I kidding. But, I’ll pack it anyway, because I don’t want to have a yarn crisis while I’m gone. And goodness knows, I can’t buy any yarn in Spokane! π
Blessings and love,
Betsy
