Working on my secret project wasn’t my only goal this weekend. Today is Mom’s birthday, so I also went to celebrate with her.
I popped down to the grocery store in my old neighbourhood and got her a birthday cake.

They make the best cakes and have the best icing and I’ve missed them so much since I’ve moved. Paisley (who’s back with my parents for the school year), Dad and I took Mom out for dinner as well.
And remember those foxes I stitched so long ago…

That was Mom’s birthday present. It was such and odd shape, I couldn’t find a frame for it, so I bit the bullet and got it professionally framed. It cost and arm and a leg, but it looks amazing – and Mom loved it, so it was definitely worth it!
Happy Birthday to the best Mom ever!
Valerie, I am sure your Mom loved everything, especially you being there. The fox needlepoint/cross-stitch (is that what it is called?) is beautiful!

The happiest of birthday’s to your Mom. I’m sure the best gift was having you there but that fox cross-stitch is gorgeous framed. I wondered what you did with it. Those colors are amazing. There was a grocery in Spokane across the street from where I used to work that made the best cakes and icing. We even bought wedding cakes for the kids wedding and our 25th from them. So delicious. I can almost taste it now.
Blessings,
Betsy
