With the socks off the needles, it was time to cast on something new. I don’t want a dismal repeat of last year’s knitting tally, so I’ve committed to finishing one project each month. I’ve already got January down, but a February finish isn’t guaranteed unless I cast on something right away.
I went stash diving and came up with a skein of Knit Pick’s Hawthorne in Jupiter.
Honestly, I don’t even remember buying this yarn. Truth be told, it’s not my colours, and I’m not really fond of speckled yarns. The only reason I can think that I might have bought it was a) it was on sale (I bought a bunch of Knit Picks yarn on sale last year, so that checks) and b) the name – Jupiter is my Ruling Planet in astrology. Whatever the reason, I’m knitting with it now.
Speckles make the yarn very busy, but I didn’t want to do another pair of plain vanilla socks… so I opted for Vanilla Latte. I know a lot of you have knit this pattern, and I’m kind of surprised it’s taken me this long to knit it myself.
This pair is destined for the gift pile. And it won’t be anklets or small… so I guess I better get knitting.

I’m not a fan of speckled yarn either. It looks like a dyeing mistake to me…lol. Having said that I’m sure those will look fabulous when you are done.
I seem to be in knitting hell right now. I can’t seem to get anything finished or even worked on.

Speckled yarn tends to pool, and since I’m not a fan of pooling, I often avoid it. My knitting has come to a slow crawl. I need to cast on a new project.

Vanilla Latte is a great go-to pattern. Me? I love a good speckled yarn. I think Jupiter is gorgeous.

Even if the yarn is not your color and you are not a fan of speckled yarn, I think it is beautiful. The progress you have made on the sock is very pretty.

Anything with a planet name is GREAT!
Am planning to be in the 100% eclipse shadow on April 8, and I am outside often to witness planets, stars, the ISS, meteor showers…
The sky is a fascinating place.

Looks like a nice sock in the making to me. Be glad you have that pattern because I just looked it up, and it’s no longer available as a digital pattern. I’ve done that pattern before and like it, too. BTW, I love that yarn!

I like that yarn. I think I’ve made socks with it in the past, but I can’t remember for sure. I finished Piper’s sweater and the prayer shawl I was crocheting. I started another shawl and I plan to take socks on the trip next week. Small is better when you’re traveling unless it’s camping. Then I take whatever I want.
