Almost an FO: Shrug

So… technically finished the shrug…

But…. I’m not thrilled with the fit. The shrug is one-sized. I’m plus-sized. I knew it probably wouldn’t fit as loose as it does in the pattern. And I’m fine with that.

What I don’t love is the ribbing around the body opening.

As written, it ends up stretched out on my torso. It’s not terrible – I just don’t love it. There’s is a solution though. Rip out all that ribbing, and redo it – with a higher stitch count.

Which is what I’m going to do. Just maybe not right away. Part of me is really aching to cast on for a new pair of sock. Especially since I found a hole in my favourite pair of Felicis last week!

So… should I rip and reknit right away, or start a sock and save the ripping for another day?

I am leaning toward suggesting you fix your shrug now because you will probably not want to do it at a later date……at least that is what I would think I would do. I would play a mind game with myself and do it now, but plan some fun socks maybe with some special yarn for the prize.

  2. I never have a problem putting naughty things in time out. If I don’t, I’m afraid I might knit some bad juju into it. Naughty or not, I do love that shrug. The colors are spectacular.

  3. Rip now! Pick up the stitches and then decide if you want to finish later, or keep going. If you set it down as is, you may never come back to it.

Or give it to a friend! I’ve done that with a complete sweater before; it was way too big for me, but perfect for my friend.

Boy, I just read through the comments and you have opinions for both directions. I think I would at least rip it out and pick up the stitches. Then you can decide which you want to continue with. The shrug or socks.

    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy
