I’m afraid our A/C still isn’t working. HVAC guy came out on Wednesday and diagnosed it as a freon leak in the compressor. Great. Except he didn’t have the part. Apparently it wasn’t in stock either. It should be available by Monday – and they are booked to come back that morning.
While we were waiting for the HVAC guys, I had all the windows open and fans blowing what little cool air there was around the house.
While the humans are grumpy, it doesn’t seem to be bothering the cats. Rupert especially liked having the windows open. While he can go out in the catio yard any time he wants, it’s on the back of the house.
And he can’t yell at the neighbours from there!
We still had one window A/C so Dave installed it yesterday and the windows got shut again. Rupert can still technically yell at the neighbours. But they can’t hear him anymore.

The window a/c is keeping the downstairs cool enough, thankfully. I’ve moved my office to the diningroom table, and will just stay down here until the system is fix on Monday!

That’s a hoot. (The Rupert part, not the A/C part.)
We put frosted glass on the bottom pane in our main bathroom windows, Giroux is NOT amused. I am guessing the bathroom window was HIS favorite to look out. If we have that window open he immediately gets up to look out.
Now mind you, the kitchen window has the exact same view. Go figure.

The windows are not open as often as I like (even when we dont need the a/c on). Dave hates hearing the neighbourhood. So the kitties ALWAYS get excited when there’s a window open. They can see out them any time they like – but being able to SMELL out them is another thing!

Val we learned a lot in Chicago when the heat was relentless and thousands perished. Mostly isolated elderly men . we learned your body needs 6 HOURS at a normal temp in a cooling area to regulated again.
I forget if you have a basement. The cats definitely need a respite.

You’re right though – it’s very hard. The start of the week wasn’t too bad, but by Wednesday it was brutal. I had trouble getting my work done – my brain just didn’t want to function.

Yes, it’s hot and humid, but The Hubby thinks we are now ‘used to it’ so he’s not in favour of turning on the a/c window units here!
I haven’t put up a fight, because Henry loves his open windows, and Da Boyz love the open doors, so I’ll just sweat and aim fans right at me while I read.

Thankfully, Dave and I are on the same page when it comes to temp. He’s the one who finally caved and put the window a/c in yesterday. He ended up cancelling half his students because his studio was just too hot to teach in!
I wouldn’t mind so much if I could just sit in my chair and craft in front of a fan – but having to work from home and try to use my brain at the same time.. it just wasn’t happening. Maybe I could become acclimatized…but I just don’t think I’m built for it! Time to move to Scotland!

Its suppose to rain for most of the weekend and is raining now – so that is helping. But it is still REALLY humid out there!

How awful! It’s one of my greatest fears.I can do without heat in the winter because we have a wood stove but we had to go a week without AC or any electricity after hurricane Isabelle and it was horrible. We drove forever just so I could get a fountain soda with lots of ice. I think it saved my life.
