Over here in sock land…

I have done a little knitting….

I’ve got the cuff done on the second stormy sock, and I’m about to start the solid black heel.

But the real excitement comes in the form of new yarn. Or at least new to me!

I’ve said before, I don’t normally come across much sock yarn when we are thrifting – but every so often it pops up. Usually in the form of part balls.

Happily, I like ankle socks, and I’m pretty good at eyeballing and deciding if the leftovers will enough for a pair for me. At least three of these should be fine – that one on the top left may be cutting it close. I’ll probably use something on heel and toes with that one. But… at just $1 each it’s worth the risk.

So imagine my delight when just a week later, I came across more. This time part balls of Kroy. And not just single part balls – four to six part balls in each colourway.

I’d have to weight them to be sure – but once they were all wound together, it looks like I’ve got enough for full-size socks in each colour! And at just $3 for each set of part balls… that’s one heck of a deal!

Now I really got to get those stormy socks done.
