Since you haven’t seen an FO post, you may have already an inkling that I didn’t finish my Christmas gnomes before the year ended.
I have decided that I do not like hand-quilting. And a renewed admiration for people who hand-quilt entire quilts. Quilting this little thing was more than enough for me!

I kept it simple, quilting very close the the applique. I wanted just enough to make them puff up a little. After that I took it to the machine.
I quilting in the ditch between the border and the background, and then sewed on the binding.

I still have to sew that binding down, so still not quite finished. But soon it will be.
It is turning out so cute! Love the beards. LOL

Three cute, cute little gnomes. They are perfect. 🙂 I love hand-quilting but it IS hard on the hands.

Adorable!
I come from a long line of hand quilters so it’s in my DNA. My great grandmother held quilting bees in her living room and they would sit around her big wood frame and stitch and chat. My mother remembered having to always go back and pick out all the other ladies stitches as they were never up to my great grandmother’s standards. I have a pile of her quilts and they are magnificent. I could never hope to reach her standards either. I remember the look of horror on my aunt’s face when she examined my first ever attempt on a baby quilt for #1 Son. It never left me and to this day I still strive to get those stitches small and even.

The gnomes are adorable. I love the look of hand-quilting, but I know I would not have the patience to actually do it.

How very cute! While I appreciate the beauty of hand quilting, I do not have the patience for it.
