Technically, the veg garden is all but finished for the year.
But no one told the beans.

That pile there was given to a friend on Thursday. About that many were given Mom when she was here. And I have two large bags in the fridge, waiting for when I have time to blanch and freeze them!
I finally got around to rounding up my garlic and shallots for storage

They’ve been drying on the porch for months. The shallot haul was low this year, but I’m still happy. These are great for when you don’t want to use a whole, big onion! I have to get some seed garlic and get it in the ground soon.
There’s still some peppers on the plant, a couple melons, and my cabbage left to harvest. And of course, my bird house gourds. But Most of it will be cleaned up by the week of (Canadian) Thanksgiving. I’ll do a full round up of the season then.
Furby looks good next to the string beans, which look pretty good too.

Since green beans are my fav vegetable, I would count that as perfection for a harvest! Good job !

I brought home a giant bag of green and yellow beans from the Farmer’s Market this week. The guy had laundry baskets full of them to sell. It must have been a good year for beans. I’m going to make some 3 bean salad with the leftovers tomorrow. After seeing your red cabbages last week, I bought one and made a red cabbage and apple thing with it in the crock pot and it was amazing. Who knew red cabbage could be so good? I’ve only ever had it in cole slaw and it’s just there for color.
