We’ve been in this townhouse for eight years now. And for eight years, I’ve been trying to get pictures of the Yellow Swallowtail butterflies.
I see them every year, but they just move too fast!
I’ve been able to get pictures of the black ones; the little white cabbages; the strong red admirals; and the royal monarchs.
But the yellow swallowtails have remained elusive.
That is… until the other day.

I was out back, taking a break from the day job, and it just flitted on by, and settled on the raspberries. And stayed there.

What a golden beauty!
Wow….that is a beauty! I’ve never seen one like that. I rarely see butterflies at all anymore but I did see a gorgeous luna moth in flight down by the bay the other day.

I had to smile because the Yellow Swallowtail is the only one I ever saw or photographed when I had a yard full of azaleas. You capture such beauty.

it’s so beautiful! I haven’t seen any butterflies since we moved here. Lot of them at our old house and the lake though. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Yellow Swallowtail before. Thank you for persevering to get a photo.
Blessings,
Betsy

OH Happy for you! !My sister had them in Minnesota. I think we need more blossoms here and we will get them like last year. They are stunning with that touch of blue.

Beautiful! My friend held one in the park last week. I think it was injured. She moved it off the grass so it wouldn’t get stepped on.
